1. What this policy covers
This Cookie Policy describes how DocSign uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage or pixels) on https://docsign.app and the DocSign web application (together, the "Sites").
For how we process personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy. Where cookies involve personal data, the Privacy Policy applies together with this Cookie Policy.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the Sites function, remember preferences, measure performance, and (where you consent) support marketing. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage keys used for the same purposes.
3. How we use cookies
We group cookies into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary: required for core operation — e.g. authentication session, security (CSRF), load balancing, and remembering cookie consent choices. These are used based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure service, and where EU law requires, to perform the service you request.
- Functional: remember UI preferences such as language or layout where you opt in or where they are essential to your experience.
- Analytics / performance: help us understand aggregated traffic and feature usage (e.g. page views, errors). We aim to configure analytics to minimise personal data where possible.
- Marketing: used only if we deploy advertising or remarketing tags and you have given consent through our cookie banner or preference centre.
4. Consent and the ePrivacy Directive / GDPR
Under EU and UK ePrivacy rules, storage or access to information on your device (other than strictly necessary cookies) generally requires your consent unless a narrow exemption applies. Where DocSign uses non-essential cookies, we request your consent before they are set (for example via a cookie banner or preference centre) and provide a way to withdraw or update your choices.
If you browse from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, only strictly necessary cookies load until you accept optional categories where the law requires consent.
5. Third-party cookies
Some cookies may be set by third-party providers we use (e.g. embedded content, analytics, or support widgets). Those providers have their own privacy notices. We encourage you to review their policies and adjust browser settings where available.
6. How long cookies last
Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period (for example 30 days to 12 months) depending on their purpose. For an up-to-date list of cookies, durations, and providers, contact privacy@docsign.app.
7. How to control cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you:
- view stored cookies and delete them individually or in bulk;
- block third-party cookies;
- block all cookies (may affect how the Sites work);
- clear cookies when you close the browser.
You can also use industry opt-out pages where relevant (e.g. advertising choices programmes in your region). If we provide a preference centre in the Service, use it to toggle non-essential categories.
8. Global users
If you access the Sites from outside the EEA/UK, local laws may apply in addition to this Policy. Our practices are designed to align with GDPR and common international expectations, but you should verify obligations in your jurisdiction.
9. Updates and contact
We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices or the law change. Check the "Last updated" date on this page. Questions: privacy@docsign.app.
